Description:
The Team Lead will coordinate and lead a team within the Corporate
Library responsible for a diverse set of Library services, including
cataloging, acquisitions, circulation, document delivery, metatagging
of web content, taxonomy construction, managing a multimedia collection
with an emphasis on electronic delivery of information, and overseeing
the Library website.
The Team Lead will oversee, plan and assist the team in accomplishing
goals and objectives and report on team progress and performance to
Library management. The Team Lead will provide the Library Manager
with updates on both projects and ongoing service activities, statistical
reports of productivity, and proposals for process changes or new
services. Activities will include, but are not limited to, work
flow/process assessment and development, staff coaching, performance
evaluation and feedback, and coordination of backup procedures. The
Team Lead will interact with Library customers, vendors, and information
technology colleagues and will be expected to participate and provide
leadership on cross-functional teams to meet department and corporate
goals. The Team Leader will participate in Library infrastructure
planning, including space and equipment planning for both Library
expansion or redesign and the management of a large public computing
area. Must be comfortable in a team centered, fast paced environment.
Requirements:
A minimum of five years of library experience required and BA/BS
degree required. Extensive experience with the administration of an
integrated library automation system and technical services
responsibilities are required. Supervisory or Team Lead experience
and MLIS are preferred.
The Team Lead must be solutions oriented, flexible, and able to
balance daily deadlines and longer term strategic planning. Strong
leadership and facilitation skills are necessary.
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal & problem
solving abilities as well as strong collaborative & team skills are
required. Experience with both Macintosh and Windows operating
systems and browsers preferred. The candidate will be expected to
work both as an individual contributor and as a Team Lead in a fast-
paced environment with the flexibility to respond to changing needs
of clients and departments.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
OUTREACH & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The Norris Medical Library of the University of Southern California is
seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and service-oriented individual to
serve as an Associate Director for Outreach & Resource Management.
Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director for Outreach &
Resource Management actively participates on the management team of
the Health Sciences Libraries (HSL) and is expected to serve on HSL
committees as well as within the University and the profession. The
Norris Medical Library is located on the University of Southern
California Health Sciences Campus, adjoining the LAC+USC Healthcare
Network, four miles from downtown Los Angeles and seven miles from the
University Park Campus. The library contains 168,185 volumes and
receives 1,935 current periodicals. Users include medical, pharmacy,
occupational therapy, and physical therapy students, 1,230 full-time
faculty, and a large number of other health professionals. The library
staff of 41 FTE includes 12.5 librarians. For additional information,

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach Services (50%)
- Provides leadership in planning, coordinating,
and implementing a broad-based program to market and promote the
resources and services of the Norris Medical Library. This
responsibility includes oversight of publications, programming, and
public relations.
- Conducts research, user surveys, focus groups,
benchmarking studies, and performs analyses of usage statistics to
determine resource utilization and/or to target groups for promotional
activities.
- Develops innovative approaches to disseminating information.
- Oversees .25 FTE librarian who provides content
and editorial assistance.
- Oversees the 1.0 FTE Head of Access Services
Section (circulation, document delivery and reserves).
Resource Management (50%)
- Collaborates with Associate Director for
Collection Resources on budgeting and expenditure review for licensed
products; selection of new products and evaluation of trial
subscriptions; and assists in designing and maintaining an e-resource
database.
- Negotiates and manages ebook, ejournal, and
database licenses including communicating with publishers and vendors
to resolve access issues with licensed products.
- Administers copyright compliance and contractual commitments.
Provides copyright information support to Health Sciences Campus
faculty, staff, and students.
QUALIFICATIONS. Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school;
five years of successful supervisory experience; evidence of strong
leadership and interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral
communication. Knowledge of marketing practices and principles and an
awareness of trends in information resources and scientific
publishing.
Demonstrated initiative. Ability to work independently and
collaboratively. Preferred: Knowledge of copyright issues related to
document delivery and class reserve.
SALARY/STATUS. Up to $75,000 depending on qualifications and
experience. Salary includes administrative stipend.
Continuing-appointment track.

Medical Health Librarian - 16 hours/week
San Ramon Medical Center - San Ramon, CA
The San Ramon Regional Medical Center began serving
residents of the San Ramon Valley and surrounding communities in 1990.
Located on a hillside overlooking the valley, the full-service,
123-bed, acute care hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and
outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency care and an
outpatient surgery and treatment center. We currently have a need for
the following position on a 16 hour per week basis.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the
Director of Medical Staff Services, the Medical Librarian is
responsible for planning and administering the collection, services,
staff, budget and facilities of the Professional Library.
Primary
Duties include: 1. Provides reference and bibliographic services for
library patrons. Provides answers to reference questions. Performs
computerized or manual literature researches. Instruct patrons in the
use of library resources, catalogs, and indexes. 2. Plans and
administers library collection. Selects and acquires new books,
journals and other library materials. Catalogs and classifies library
materials. Supervises circulation of library materials. Weeds
collection as necessary. 3. Assists the CIO with the planning and
implementation of library policy and budget. Formulates library
policies and procedures. Updates library services and technologies.
Attends educational programs and reads the literature to keep up to
date on new developments in the library field. Directs expenditures of
monies from library budget. Keeps statistics and prepares reports.
Works with Medical Education Committee regarding library services and
facilities.
Requirements: Minimum Experience/Skills: Medical Terminology, library
terms/procedures, computer skills, competency with Microsoft Office
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: Medical Library Association
Credential or equivalent experience
Education: Minimum Masters Degree or equivalent majoring in Library
Science. Graduate from accredited library school with specialized
courses in medical librarianship, undergraduate degree in Biological
Sciences.

Temporary Librarian - 50% Appointment for 6 Months
The Kalmanovitz Library at the
University of California San Francisco (UCSF) seeks a librarian for a
temporary part-time position to provide reference and educational
services to the campus community.
One of the ten campuses of the University of California UCSF is the only campus devoted exclusively to the academic health
sciences and related professions. The Library serves 3,500 graduate
students and supports the teaching, research and service missions of
the campus. Long renowned for the depth and breadth of its paper
collection, the UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management plays
a leadership role in digital services and resources. The Library
serves as a campus focal point for knowledge-based applications of
information technology.
Primary responsibilities of the position may include:

community oriented medical library. Medical librarian works with
oncology certified RN and trained volunteers to provide library and
